It’s fortunate that there was no loss of life in this incident at Little Road, Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, despite the partial collapse of a bungalow building during manual demolition.
One worker was injured, but prompt action by first responders ensured he received medical attention quickly. Emergency responders later arrived at the scene to assess the situation further.
Speaking with Vanguard, Permanent Secretary, of Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, said the demolition site was immediately cordoned off by the agency’s officials for further action to prevent the secondary incident.
“In response to distress calls received by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, via the 767/112 Emergcgency Toll-Free lines, the agency activated the Cobra Team from Onipanu Base.
“Upon arrival at the aforementioned location by 0940hrs, a bungalow building undergoing manual demolition was found to have partially collapsed and injured one of the workers’ limbs in the process. He is presently responding to treatment, ” Oke-Osanyitolu narrated.
