The Oyo State Government has confirmed the arrest of the organisers of a children’s Christmas party in Ibadan, where a stampede tragically claimed the lives of about 30 children.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at the Islamic High School in Bashorun, Ibadan.

The Tragedy that struck in Ibadan this morning occurred as a result of Christmas giveaway organized by Queen Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi in partnership with Agidigbo FM, when stampede claimed the lives of several innocent children.
Security forces attended the scene and arrested the event organizers, state Governor Seyi Makinde said in a statement.

“Earlier today, an incident occurred in Islamic High School Basorun, the venue of an event organised for families. Sadly, a stampede at the venue has led to multiple loss of lives and injuries. This is a very sad day,” Makinde said.
