In a recent interview, Nigerian Senator Orji Uzor Kalu discussed his monthly salary of ₦14 million, stating that it is inadequate for both his personal needs and those of his constituents.

He addressed questions about the government’s alleged provision of SUVs to senators, asserting that no senator has received personal vehicles; rather, SUVs are allocated for committee work.

Despite Seun’s reference to a Senate member claiming senators received vehicles, Kalu maintained that he has not received one personally, though he can use one as a committee member.

The senator acknowledged the disparity between the lifestyles of lawmakers and the struggles faced by ordinary citizens.

He highlighted his responsibilities in covering educational and medical expenses for constituents, expressing his concern that his salary does not sufficiently meet these demands.
