Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga has challenged Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate from the 2023 election, to take a more active role in the planned protest against hardship.
Onanuga’s comments came after Obi endorsed the protest, attributing its motivation to widespread hunger and hopelessness among the youth.
Onanuga suggested that Obi should lead the protest openly, as past leaders like President Tinubu and former President Buhari did, rather than remaining behind the scenes.
He argued that true leadership involves being at the forefront and helping to manage any potential excesses during the protest.

Reacting to Obi’s approval of the protest, Onanuga via his X handle, wrote;

‘’Now that Peter Obi has come out to endorse the planned protest by his supporters, he should do what President Tinubu and former President Buhari did in the past, by coming out openly to lead the protesters. That is what leadership is about. Not playing the master puppeteer behind the scene. He should be in the forefront of the protest and help in curbing their possible excesses.”
