Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is actively discouraging Abuja youths and stakeholders from participating in the upcoming nationwide protests scheduled for August 1 to 10, which are driven by concerns over hunger and hardship. During a recent engagement with FCT youths in Kwali Area Council, Wike emphasized the current administration’s accomplishments and argued that it is too early to evaluate its performance after less than a year in office. He highlighted improvements in education, health, and security, and expressed a desire for peace rather than protests. Additionally, Wike addressed land issues in Abuja, expressing frustration over the focus on land allocation rather than infrastructure development. He encouraged residents to support the government and refrain from participating in the protests organized by those with unclear agendas.
“There is no need for the protest. The current administration is barely one year in office and not enough to assess its performance.
“You can’t judge leadership within one year. I have not been in office for up to a year, but I have done so much that should be appreciated and convince people that FCT is working,” he said.
