Marcel Obute, a fast-growing Afrobeat artist known as Bluboyy, has lauded Nigeria’s entertainment industry for its global impact, stating that the industry is creating a positive image for the nation worldwide. He made the remarks following his birthday live concert at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he performed his latest single, ADA, a tribute to his late sister, Florence Adaora Obute.

Bluboyy, 26, who both composes and writes his songs, highlighted the rapid growth of Nigerian artists, noting their increasing influence across social media platforms, particularly TikTok. He referenced artists such as Taves, BOJ, Victony, and Rema as examples of Nigerian musicians making waves globally.

“Nigerian music artists are taking the world by storm,” Bluboyy said, adding, “We can see it in artists like Rema, Burna Boy, and Asake, who are all pushing Afrobeats and related genres to international prominence. Asake, for instance, has been breaking records with over 1 million streams on his latest album Lungu Boy.”

Bluboyy also expressed admiration for Davido, whom he referred to as his biggest inspiration in the industry. “Davido is my most admired artist because of his relentless efforts and the support he gives to upcoming talents. I call him ‘My Grandfather,’ and I’ve even dedicated a song to him,” he shared.

In reflecting on his own achievements, Bluboyy revealed that he has garnered a significant following on social media, with over 8,000 Instagram followers and 40,000 post views. His latest release, ADA, has already attracted over 2,000 streams on Spotify and has been gaining traction on campuses and social media platforms.

Looking ahead, Bluboyy announced plans for a campus tour in November to promote ADA further. He also disclosed that he would conclude the year with a major youth concert in Lagos in December, where he plans to unveil new releases and host a talent show for upcoming artists.

“I’m calling for sponsors and benefactors for my ADA Special Youth Concert in December, where they can gain exposure through my growing fan base of over 7,000 worldwide,” he said.

Bluboyy’s latest single, ADA, released on July 8, 2024, is available on all major streaming platforms, and he continues to be compared to notable musicians like 1MdollaMillie, PrinceO, and Flossynaci.
