A violent dispute tied to cult activities in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, has left two men dead and several others injured.

Eyewitnesses say that one of the victims, a groom-to-be, was tragically shot and killed while on his way to purchase items for his wedding, which was set to take place on the same day. The other victim’s body was found at Utagba-Uno Junction. Those injured in the violence were quickly rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
As the situation escalated, security forces were deployed to set up roadblocks across the area in a bid to curb further violence. Despite these efforts, residents of Umusam, Utagba-Uno, and Isumpe communities remain in shock, struggling to come to terms with the brutal killings.

The fiancée of the deceased groom, along with his family and friends, are in deep mourning as their joyous occasion turned into a heartbreaking tragedy.

An eyewitness, known only as Boy, explained that the victim was ambushed by suspected members of a rival cult group while walking with friends. “The whole town is in shock, and the atmosphere is tense,” he said, urging locals to exercise caution, especially with the festive season approaching.

Authorities have yet to comment on the incident, as efforts to reach the police for a statement remain unsuccessful.
