Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, recently rewarded soldiers with a cash sum of ₦1 million for their success in eliminating notorious bandit leader Halilu Sububu, also known as Buzu.
This operation took place in Zamfara State as part of the ongoing fight against banditry in the North-West.
Sububu, who had been terrorizing communities with violent attacks and kidnappings, was killed in a carefully planned nighttime ambush by troops from Operation Hadarin Daji.
The reward was aimed at boosting the morale of the soldiers and recognizing their bravery in neutralizing a key figure in the region’s insecurity.
