One of the suspects arrested in connection with the abduction of Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police Hakeem Odumosu, has admitted to participating in the crime, revealing that the operation was orchestrated by an unidentified individual.

The suspect, identified as Keleke Michael, made the confession while addressing journalists on Saturday at the Police Headquarters in Abuja. Despite admitting his involvement, Michael refused to disclose the identity of the mastermind behind the abduction, stating that another gang member, who was killed during a police operation, had the details.

Mrs. Odumosu was kidnapped last Thursday at the entrance of her residence in Arepo, Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. The attackers reportedly dragged her from her Lexus SUV and through a swampy area to an undisclosed location.

The rescue operation, carried out by security agents on Friday, resulted in the arrest of two suspects: 27-year-old Agbojule Smart and 30-year-old Michael. Two other members of the gang were killed during the operation, which also ensured the safe recovery of Mrs. Odumosu.

While recounting his role, Michael said, “I was part of the kidnapping operation in Arepo. We were five in number, including someone I didn’t know. A man, whose name I don’t know, hired us for the job. We were armed with locally made rifles and took the victim to a bush near Arepo, where she was held for over a week.”

According to Michael, the gang demanded a ransom of ₦40 million and eventually received ₦20 million. He confessed to receiving a ₦4.2 million share of the ransom.
