Suspected armed robbers attacked the premises of the Pioneer Newspaper, located on Information Drive in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Friday around noon.
During the invasion, they fatally shot Mr. Edet Obot, a security guard stationed there.

The assailants reportedly made off with several items, including a generator set, televisions, and wire cables. A source within the newspaper, who spoke on condition of anonymity to Punch in Uyo on Monday, confirmed the incident and expressed sorrow over the loss of the security guard. The source suggested possible internal assistance to the robbers, stating, “It seems the robbers had insider help.”

Confirming the incident, ASP Timfon John, spokesperson for the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, assured, “We are aware of it and are actively managing the situation.”
