A violent clash between rival cult groups in Oron Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, has led to the deaths of two individuals.
One victim, Paul Eyo, suffered fatal machete wounds, while the other, Ekpe, a high school principal, was brutally beheaded. The state’s Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, confirmed the incident at a press conference on October 18, 2024.
He reported that the conflict occurred on October 16, 2024, when operatives found Eyo’s body after receiving a tip from a local youth leader.
Both victims were associated with different cult groups, with Eyo linked to Black Axe and Ekpe to the Vikings. Following the incident, police arrested three suspects believed to be involved in the killings.
They were apprehended in Mbo LGA based on credible intelligence.
