The situation in Rivers State has worsened as suspected political thugs set fire to the Ikwerre Local Government Area (LGA) secretariat. Eyewitnesses reported that the attack occurred early Monday, with the assailants using firebombs and shooting sporadically, as seen in a viral video showing thick smoke rising from the building.
This incident follows a similar attack on the Eleme LGA secretariat, where newly elected chairman Brain Gokpa and his councillors found parts of the complex ablaze upon their arrival.

Additionally, clashes and attacks have been reported in other areas, including Oyigbo and Ahoada East LGAs, raising concerns about escalating violence in the region.
