On Monday, July 29, a protest at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka, Lagos, led to chaos as police allegedly used tear gas and made arrests. The demonstration was against the provost, Dr. Wahab Azeez, over claims of an unlawful tenure. The protesters reportedly attacked a mediation team from the Ministry of Education, damaging vehicles and the Provost’s quarters, and blocked entrances. The police intervened, arresting 32 individuals and restoring order. The situation remains under control with police presence from the Area Command, Surulere.
