The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ogbomoso Zone, has officially commenced its 2024 International Youth Day (IYD) commemoration with a strategic courtesy and media tour across Ogbomosoland. The event, aimed at fostering collaboration with the media, saw the NYCN delegation visiting notable media outlets, including the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Ogbomoso and the Ogbomoso Insight newspaper.

The media tour kicked off early Wednesday 21st August, 2024, with the team being warmly received by the General Manager NTA Channel 5, Ogbomoso and the Editor-in-Chief of Ogbomoso Insight respectively. The gesture symbolizes the council’s recognition of the indispensable role the media plays in promoting digital innovation and sustainable development within Ogbomosoland, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole.

The tour also served as an avenue to strengthen ties between the NYCN and media organizations, with both parties reiterating their commitment to fostering a collaborative relationship that will continue to uplift the youth.

In his address during the visit, the Zonal Chairman of NYCN Ogbomoso Zone, Comr. Oyewusi Mathew Afolabi, emphasized the vital partnership between the youth and the media. He expressed deep appreciation for the media’s efforts in amplifying the voices of young people and showcasing their contributions towards sustainable development. The Chairman noted that through extensive media coverage, the achievements and potentials of the youth are brought to the forefront, thereby inspiring more young people to engage in innovative practices that contribute to the socio-economic growth of the community.

“The media has consistently shown commitment to the youth cause, providing a platform for our activities and ensuring that our efforts in driving sustainable development are not only acknowledged but also celebrated. This partnership is crucial as we work towards harnessing digital innovations for the betterment of our community,” the Chairman stated.
