Joe Igbokwe, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has raised alarm over the skyrocketing cost of rice in Nigeria.
In a recent social media post, he highlighted that the price of a bag of rice has now surpassed ₦100,000, despite the country’s numerous rice mills.
Igbokwe expressed his frustration, stating, “With all the rice mills we have in Nigeria, my wife just informed me that a bag of rice now costs over ₦100k. Without sounding immodest, I must say the people who will rescue this country from its self-inflicted struggles are not yet born.”
His comments have sparked widespread debate online, with many Nigerians voicing their concerns about the economic hardships resulting from soaring food prices. The issue underscores the mounting pressure on households nationwide, as food inflation continues to climb despite ongoing efforts to enhance local agricultural production.
