Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has inaugurated members of the Governing Council and Board of Trustees for his privately owned Ojaja University, located at Eiyenkorin, Ilorin, Kwara State.
A statement by the director of media and public affairs at Ooni’s palace, Otunba Moses Olafare, stated that prominent scholars inaugurated at the Monarch’s palace in Ile-Ife are Professor Lere Baale, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council, and Engr. Yusuf Olanrewaju Sagaya, as the chairman, Board of Trustees.
The council members include the vice chancellor, Prof. Jeleel Ojuade, Chief (Mrs.) Ronke Adeyemi, Dr. Lanre Shittu, Alhaji Ibrahim Indimi, Prof. Folakemi Omojasola, Prof. Azizat Omotoyosi, Mallam Usman Tuggar, Bar. AbdulQudus Adesina Orire, the school Registrar, a representative of the National University Commission, a nominees of the university’s Senate, and a representative of the Kwara State Ministry of Education.
Other BoT members are Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, and Bar. Lanre Alli, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Chief (Mrs.) Toluwalope Ighodalo, Oba Adedokun Abolarin Aroyinkeye 1, Orangun of Oke-Ila, Mr. John Olajide, Sen Gbemisola Saraki, Oba Adekunle Asamu Oyeyemi, Oloba of Oba-Ile, Princess Felicia Oluwapemi Adereti and Lady Ada Chukwudozie.
At the inauguration, Ooni Ogunwusi described the Ojaja University project as an idea birthed by his love for education, human development, and capacity building for the country.
He noted that the university is for legacy and not for money-making, saying: “We are here to create a structure that will allow us to produce valuable innovators who will not only be academically and morally sound but also globally great innovators.”
