Today, a planned nationwide protest against hunger commenced amidst a standoff between organizers advocating for a street procession and police, who insisted on confining the protest to designated spots. In Maiduguri, Borno State, Lagos, Oyo, Abuja,Kano and Osun, protesters, mainly youths, carried placards highlighting grievances such as the impact of fuel subsidy removal, hunger, and insecurity.
Despite the tensions, the protest remained peaceful, with some security personnel even showing support. Meanwhile, business activities were noticeably reduced in some areas, including limited services at filling stations.
