Hours after the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba ordered his arrest, Nigerian singer and songwriter, Seun Kuti has spoken out.

It was reported the IG, Usman Baba, on Saturday ordered the arrest of the Afrobeat crooner.

The IG had equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the alleged assault and the prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

“IG Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.”

Taking to his Instagram story, Seun Kuti stated that he welcomes the investigation and will give his full cooperation.

He also prayed to IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted.

“I welcome the investigation and will give my full cooperation! I also pray to the IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted”.

On Saturday that Seun Kuti trended on all social media platforms over a video of him physically assaulting a Nigerian police officer.

In the viral video, Seun Kuti could be seen confronting a policeman at Third Mainland Bridge.

Speaking out on his Instagram story, Seun Kuti alleged that the policeman wanted to kill him and his family.

The son of late legendary singer, Fela Kuti stated that he has proof of it, but he isn’t one to chase clout.

He added that the policeman has apologized to him and he has agreed not to press charges.

“He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologized and I have agreed not to press charges. Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose his job”.
