Former President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that he sustains himself through rental income from one of his two properties in Kaduna State, emphasizing his commitment to transparency during his time in office. The revelation came during an All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting on January 25 at the Presidential Banquet Hall in Katsina State’s Government House.
Speaking in Hausa, Buhari highlighted the significance of honesty and accountability in public service, stating that throughout his presidency, he refrained from accumulating wealth through illicit means. He proudly shared that his assets consist of just three properties: one in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, and two in Kaduna State.
“The income from one of the houses in Kaduna supports my day-to-day living,”
Buhari said, explaining that he rents out the property to meet his needs.

The former president also reflected on the challenges of governing Nigeria, emphasizing the complexity of managing a diverse nation.
“Nigeria is a difficult country to govern, but most Nigerians don’t understand this,”
Buhari remarked, noting that the intricacies of leadership become apparent only when one holds the reins of power.

Buhari, who stated he is in better health and enjoys a more relaxed life post-presidency, expressed a sense of relief about his improved well-being.
“I look much better and healthier now than when I was president. Anyone who sees me now can tell the difference,”
he said.

He reiterated that his tenure was marked by a dedication to public service without corruption, assuring that no one could accuse him of illicit enrichment during his administration.
