In an unexpected twist, youths in Damaturu have vandalized a billboard erected to welcome President Bola Tinubu to the state for the launch of the Yobe State Agricultural Empowerment Programme. The incident occurred on Saturday, July 20, shortly after Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Tinubu, inaugurated the programme in Damaturu.

Witnesses reported that after the launch, a group of youths were seen climbing the billboard, which prominently displayed photos of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima alongside the message, “Thank you Mr President. Have a safe trip.” The youths proceeded to vandalize the billboard, tearing down the banner with the welcome message.

The reasons behind the vandalism remain unclear, but the act has sparked discussions about youth unrest and political tensions in the region. This incident contrasts sharply with the intended celebration and support for the presidential visit and the agricultural initiative aimed at empowering local farmers.
