The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has called out Coca-Cola Nigeria and the Nigerian Bottling Company over misleading labeling on their products. The FCCPC highlighted that the “Coca-Cola Original Taste” variant is high in sugar content, while the “Coca-Cola Less Sugar” variant contains artificial sweeteners instead of being simply lower in sugar.
This action by the FCCPC is part of its broader efforts to ensure that consumers are accurately informed about the contents of the products they purchase, particularly when it comes to health-related claims. The commission’s statement raises concerns about the transparency of product labeling and the potential health implications for consumers.
