President Muhammadu Buhari will confer national honours on President-elect Bola Tinubu and the vice-president-elect, Kashim Shettima, on Thursday, May 25.
Tinubu is expected to be conferred with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR).
Shettima will be honoured with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
The chairman of the presidential transition committee, Boss Mustapha, confirmed this on Thursday.
GCFR is Nigeria’s highest national honour and is only reserved for Presidents.
Mustapha also noted there would also be an official handover of transition documents to the incoming administration.
