The Federal Government has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for Corps Members to Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira (N77,000), effective July 2024.
This decision aligns with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, as detailed in a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission dated September 25, 2024, signed by Chairman Mr. Ekpo Nta.
Previously, the monthly allowance was Thirty-Three Thousand Naira (N33,000). The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, had advocated for improved welfare for Corps Members during a visit to the Chairman. The NYSC leadership expressed gratitude for this increase, highlighting its potential to enhance Corps Members’ morale and motivate their service to the nation.
