The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been prohibited by a court from conducting investigations in 10 states in Nigeria, as stated by EFCC chairman Olanipekun Olukoyede during a workshop in Abuja.
While the specific states were not named, Olukoyede highlighted that the agency faces ongoing challenges, including frequent court-ordered adjournments, contempt orders, and excessive reliance on technicalities that hinder its operations.
He emphasized the need for courts to discourage suspects from obtaining restraining orders against the EFCC. Despite these challenges, Olukoyede noted that the commission is reforming its investigation processes in line with legal requirements.
