…as host Liberty Stars share spoil with Optimum FC
New comers, Evergreen All Stars and Samba FC have both thrown down the gauntlets at the second edition of the All Stars Unity Cup after thrashing their opponents, Unique Soccer Club and Ladoje All Stars respectively.
Playing their first game at the weekend at the Agidingbi Grammar School field, Evergreen showed their readiness after defeating Unique SC 3-0 while it ended 4-0 in favour of Samba FC against Ladoje.
In other games played at the weekend, defending champion and host of the competition, Liberty Stars, had to settle for a goalless draw against Optimum FC with the game between Old Traffod and Dream Stars also ending goalless.
Total Football FC overcame Linda Sweet Athletes 2-1 with Araromi All Stars getting a 1-0 victory against CAS.
Also at the weekend, KFFI secured a hardfought 1-0 win against Football and Fitness Club as it ended 1-1 between Agege Sports Club and Oke Aro All Stars.
The second leg is expected to take place this weekend at the same venue with the aggregate winner over two legs qualifying for the quarterfinal of the tournament.
While appreciating all the teams for coming out together to enjoy themselves, the president of the Liberty Stars, Ikenna Anene, said the main motive of the competition is just for them all to come together, enjoy game of football while also using the opportunity to network among themselves.
