Pensioners in Lagos state have made a passionate appeal to Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu to prevail on his Accountant General to pay the accrued interest arrears to them in order to enjoy the Yelutide season.

The chairman, Nigerian Union of Pensioners, contributory Pension Scheme, Lagos Sector, Comrade Omisande Michael made the plea in a statement in Oshodi.

He said Governor Sanwo-olu has approved payment for the accrued interest arrears four months ago and that the office of the Accountant General in Lagos state is allegedly withholding release of funds.

Comrade Omisande said the payment of the accrued interest would increase the stipends which Pensioners get monthly and make life more meaningful to them after retirement.

He hinted of a planned protest to the Governor’s Office, Alausa, Ikeja, next week over the delay.
