Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs, has criticized the organization of events under her ministry without her approval, stating that such activities must include a focus on women’s empowerment.
In a recent video, she expressed frustration with what she views as ineffective use of resources on programs that don’t directly benefit women and children or address poverty and security issues.
She emphasized that future programs should incorporate empowerment initiatives, warning that failure to do so could lead to severe consequences for the organizers.
Kennedy-Ohanenye expressed a readiness to face criticism for her stance, asserting that change will only come through direct and impactful actions rather than superficial activities.
