Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has publicly apologized to the Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) and its president, Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr. Latin, at an event in Canada.
The actress addressed her previous actions during the 2021 controversy involving her public condemnation of fellow actor Baba Ijesha, who faced allegations of child defilement. Blessing, alongside actress Iyabo Ojo, had criticized Baba Ijesha’s actions, sparking a rift with TAMPAN, which opposed their public statements. This led to a public dispute with association members like Yomi Fabiyi and Lege Maimi, and an announcement by veteran actor Jide Kosoko that barred TAMPAN directors from working with both Blessing and Ojo.
In her apology, Nkechi expressed regret over her past remarks, acknowledging they were disrespectful to Jide Kosoko and the association. She expressed her sincere apology to TAMPAN’s leadership, using the Celebrities Entertainment Awards platform in Canada to reconcile with Mr. Latin and the association. A video circulating online captures Blessing on her knees, microphone in hand, delivering her heartfelt apology to TAMPAN and Mr. Latin.
