The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has opened up about the challenges following the collapse of his marriage, sharing that he faced mockery on social media during that time.
He reflected on the loneliness he experienced, questioning God about his situation. However, he noted that his palace is now filled with queens, stating, “There are queens everywhere in the palace.”

“When my marriage broke and I became single, many people mocked me and said there is no respect for a king that has no queen. I was sleeping and waking up alone. I called on God; I asked questions: who did I offend? I never did evil to anyone. He told me to put my mind at rest. Look at me today. There are queens everywhere in the palace”.

His comments come after his second wife, Olori Naomi, announced their divorce in December 2022, expressing that she could not return due to the king’s six new marriages.
She acknowledged both sweet and bitter moments during their time together, stating she had learned much since then. In a short span, the Ooni married six new wives—Olori Mariam, Olori Elizabeth, Olori Tobi, Olori Ashley, Olori Ronke, and Olori Temitope. During his recent birthday celebrations, he explained that despite efforts to make changes, he was constrained by the traditions of Ile Ife.
The king has welcomed three children with two of his new wives, including twins with Olori Tobi and a son with Olori Ashley.
