Anita Amarachi Uchola, a 200-level Philosophy student at Lagos State University (LASU), was recently victimized by a gang of armed robbers known as “one chance” while riding in a commercial bus along Iyana Oba-LASU Road.
The incident occurred on Friday when she was making deliveries for her small business. Anita, who had initially gone to sort out registration issues at her school, decided to take a bus due to increased transportation fares.
She recounted the terrifying experience: after she shouted to alert the driver at her stop, she was assaulted and robbed by members of the gang, who were posing as passengers.
They stripped her of her belongings, including her phone and bank details, and threatened her life. After being thrown out of the moving bus, she received help from a motorcycle rider who gave her N500 for transport.
Despite blocking her phone and accounts, the robbers had already emptied her savings, stealing a total of N952,000 from her bank accounts. Anita is currently recovering in a hospital, suffering from physical injuries and impaired vision due to the attack.
She has reported the incident to the FESTAC Town Police Station, but as of now, there has been no progress in tracing the stolen funds.
