In the early hours today, around 12:30 AM, a devastating multi-vehicle accident occurred on the Odo Iya-Alaro Bridge, Maryland, Lagos, resulting in one fatality and 17 severe injuries.
Preliminary reports suggest that a Mack truck, registration KWL 923 XB, lost control while speeding toward Ojota. The truck’s faulty brakes led it to collide with seven other vehicles, causing extensive damage.

Adebayo Taofiq, director of the Public Affairs and Entertainment Department at LASTMA, confirmed that their Rescue Team was the first to arrive and quickly called for additional help from the Lagos State Fire Service, LASAMBUS, LASEMA, and local police.

The collision resulted in the death of a passenger in one of the buses, while LASAMBUS provided emergency care to the injured before they were taken to hospitals. LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

He emphasized the importance of road safety and adherence to traffic regulations.
