The Nigerian Federal Government is enlisting the support of prominent business leaders, including Aliko Dangote, Tony Elumelu, and Femi Otedola, to combat malaria.

Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, inaugurated the Nigeria End Malaria Council in Abuja on August 16, 2017.

The Council will work with various stakeholders, including the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and women’s organizations, to address malaria’s high prevalence and secure funding.

Despite existing interventions, the disease continues to impact Nigeria significantly, contributing to high mortality rates and economic strain.

The council’s mission is to reduce and potentially eliminate malaria, leveraging both political commitment and private sector resources.
