Today, August 8, officials from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) demolished a shrine that had been constructed near the highway at Moshalasi Bus Stop, in Ile Epo, Iyana Ipaja.

This action was taken following multiple warnings and incidents involving the shrine.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the decision to demolish the shrine came after several “stop-work” notices were ignored and following reports of physical assaults on personnel from the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency Agency.”

He added:

“The Lagos State government is again warning everyone to desist from constituting any form of environmental nuisance on the State parks and gardens as this will be met with prosecution.
