Onwenu encouraged her loved ones to mourn respectfully and celebrate her life with prayers, lighthearted moments, and gatherings over lunch or dinner. She criticized extravagant displays of wealth at funerals, advocating instead for more meaningful ways to honor the deceased. “Do it quickly, quietly and privately,” she wrote.
“Celebrate me with prayers, lunch or dinner afterwards. Share some jokes about me and laugh. Make merriment and then go about your business,” she expressed.
