Members of the Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association (ASPAMDA) at the Trade Fair Complex in Lagos have announced their decision to distance themselves from the planned hunger protest set to begin on August 1. At a recent press conference, ASPAMDA President Ngozi Emechebe expressed concerns that the protest could lead to chaos and loss of lives and property. Emechebe acknowledged the current difficulties Nigerians face but urged patience with President Bola Tinubu, citing that he has been in office for just over a year. He emphasized the importance of giving Tinubu time to address the issues and commended the President for the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas buses through the Presidential CNG Initiative. Emechebe reassured that ASPAMDA members are focused on supporting national progress by supplying essential spare parts and contributing to the country’s development.

His words, “It is clear that there are challenges in the country but let us not compound the situation by embarking on protests which may lead to loss of lives and properties. Let us give President Bola Tinubu some more time. He has only spent a little over one year in office.

“ASPMDA identifies that this situation did not start today in Nigeria. With the steps President Tinubu is taking, Nigeria will bounce back very soon. This is a clarion call for all Nigerian citizens to sit up, adjust and work with the president to achieve success for the nation.

“ASPAMDA is too busy for this kind of protest because every member is committed to the progress of the nation. That is why we are nation builders; we keep the nation moving by making sure we supply the needed spare parts to make sure Nigerians go around wherever they want to go with their vehicles.”
