The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a strong warning to its members, advising them against participating in the upcoming nationwide protest scheduled from August 1 to 10. Dubbed #EndBadGovernance, this demonstration aims to address inflation and is reminiscent of the 2020 protests against police brutality, which resulted in significant unrest.

Yetunde Baderinwa, the NYSC Lagos Coordinator, emphasized that corps members are expected to uphold national unity and adhere to NYSC policies, which prohibit involvement in protests.
The NYSC has warned that any member who participates in these activities, either physically or online, will face serious disciplinary action. This directive highlights the ongoing conflict between civic engagement and institutional regulations aimed at maintaining order and promoting national cohesion.
“In line with the objectives of the NYSC to promote national unity, it is imperative to remind all corps members to adhere strictly to the principles of fostering harmony and cohesion within our country. It is against NYSC policy for any corps member to participate in any form of protests, whether physically or online. Engaging in such activities goes against the very essence of our mission to propagate national unity,” Baderinwa stated.
