Ayo Mogaji, the veteran Nollywood actress, has candidly revealed her remarkable life journey, discussing her experiences of motherhood, health challenges, and marital struggles during a podcast hosted by fellow actress Abiola Adebayo.
Speaking on the podcast episode, Mogaji disclosed how she defied odds to become a mother at the age of 40, despite having only one fallopian tube. Recounting her medical history, she explained that her first pregnancy was ectopic, a condition where the fertilized egg develops outside the uterus, specifically in the fallopian tube. The complication led to a life-threatening situation that required emergency surgery to remove the pregnancy and repair damage, including the removal of one of her fallopian tubes.

“There was a time when doctors doubted if I would survive,” Mogaji shared, recalling the ordeal that lasted seven to nine hours in surgery. “But I held onto faith and determination, believing in God and my own resilience.”

Despite the challenges, Mogaji eventually welcomed her child through natural birth, defying medical odds and embracing motherhood later in life.

Reflecting on her personal life, Mogaji also opened up about her marriage, which she described as abusive. She spoke candidly about enduring 13 years of abuse before finding the strength to leave. “When matrimony restricts your freedom and subjects you to abuse—physically, mentally, and emotionally—it’s essential to prioritize your well-being and safety,” she advised.

Addressing the topic of reconciliation with her ex-husband, Mogaji expressed skepticism, noting the deep-seated issues that plagued their relationship. “Change is difficult when there’s jealousy and complex issues involved,” she remarked, hinting at irreconcilable differences.
